The B.Sc. in Business Analytics provides students with in-depth business management and IT knowledge and skills, with an emphasis on business analytics. As a discipline, Business Analytics is centred on the collection, analysis, modelling, interpretation, and visualization of data that can be applied to solving business problems.

During this Bachelor’s degree programme, students will develop a data analytical mindset and data analysis skills and will also gain IT knowledge, a solid understanding of the business world, familiarity with digitization-based topics and the methodological skills needed for the corporate digital transformations. Three major subject areas are emphasized:

  • Business knowledge (domain knowledge)
  • IT basics (e.g. programming, data, databases, software tools, IT projects, and project management methods)
  • Mathematical-statistical procedures to help students understand, build, interpret, and apply models, algorithms, and applications.

Programme Content

Studies in Business Analytics follow a three-point approach: Students will gain business knowledge (‘domain knowledge’) and learn technical IT basics (e.g. programming, data, databases, software tools, IT projects, and project management methods), as well as obtain knowledge regarding the mathematical-statistical procedures used to understand, build, interpret, and apply models, algorithms and applications.

Students in the Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics will gain in-depth business knowledge and digital skills that focus on business analytics. Courses provide instruction in the collection, modelling (algorithms), analysis, interpretation, and visualization of data related to business topics.

As part of their studies, students will become skilled in the use of business analytics algorithms, such as f.ex. However, the courses go further than merely teaching data technology skills. The degree programme helps students develop a data-analytical mindset that will enable them to prepare data-based decisions or, as a future manager, to make them.

The B.Sc. in Business Analytics includes instruction in the theory of business data analysis. The programme not only covers topics that make business analytics exciting – it also presents them in a practice-oriented manner.


Graduates of the Bachelor’s degree programme will have the ability to analyse data (analytics) and understand, apply, and optimize corporate business processes. In addition, they will have gained in-depth knowledge of digitization-based topics and methodological skills that are used in the implementation of corporate digital transformations.

The skills and knowledge that graduates of B.Sc. degree programme in Business Analytics have gained give them a valuable edge with employers, because their ability to draw useful knowledge from data allows them to help companies improve their decision-making processes. Business Analytics specialists have expertise in IT, programming, mathematical-statistical processes, and domain knowledge (e.g. business administration) and are able to carry out projects related to business analytics.

Graduates are hired into positions where they provide support for companies in the implementation of digital transformations, use data-supported analyses to help expand existing business models, apply state-of-the-art IT technologies and tools to develop innovative questions and solutions based on structured and unstructured data, and improve the quality of corporate decision-making. Business Analytics: An innovative and broadly oriented course of study that provides students with the skills they need to strengthen corporate digital literacy.

This degree programme provides a foundation for entry into a variety of future career opportunities. Depending upon their chosen focus, students will be able use their acquired business analytics expertise to carry out a wide range of corporate business tasks. The Bachelor's degree programme forms a basis upon which students can expand and allows them, in a subsequent Master's degree, to pursue a specialization, e.g. in the fields of:

During the course of the Bachelor's degree programme in Business Analytics, students will gain extensive knowledge in business analytics and business administration. This will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions in business enterprises or at consulting firms, where they can assist with digitization-based tasks. Graduates also find IT-related work within specialist departments (e.g. Controlling, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing) or as business analytics expert in IT departments (e.g. as business analysts). As management assistants, they support digitization-based projects or work in the IT industry, e.g. as junior consultants. The choice of industry, whether the service sector, social media, or the financial sector, is open, although the issues addressed may vary, depending upon the industry. Areas of application for business analytics expertise are therefore quite diverse.
